BEST DRESSED: HAILEE STEINFELD

Last night was one of the biggest fashion events of the year: The 89th Annual Academy Awards.

While the dramatic #OscarFail blunder surrounding the Best Picture category seemed to be the talk of this year's show, the fashion was far from disappointing and some of the gowns were just as dramatic.

Trends emerged - from vivid red hues to pale pink, nude and whites fabric. A lot of bling, not just around necks, wrists and fingers, but also gem-encrusted bodices, metallic embroidery, an innumerable amount of sequins - some gowns even looked like they had been gold plated directly onto the wearer's bodies! Needless to say, as per usual, the red carpet was graced by some seriously stunning and meticulously crafted pieces.

That being said, there was one gown that really stole the show for me and that was this ethereal Ralph & Russo gown worn to perfection by the talented Hailee Steinfeld.

It fit beautifully, moved like a dream, and appeared to be "as light as a feather."

The neckline is the epitome of class and femininity, trimmed with soft ruffles that meet behind the neck to form a giant flower and then billow and float gracefully all the way down the back of the dress. The embroidery is also nothing short of gorgeous with soft pastels and just the right amount of eye-catching metallics. The semi-sheer nature of the dress makes it subtly sexy while still maintaining an overall appearance of innocence and elegance; very skillfully done.

Of course the hair and makeup just further enhances the #perfection of this look: soft smokey eyes, full brows, pink lips, and a meticulous updo. Again a beautiful balance between sexy and ultra-feminine.
