FAUX FUR & APRICOT

FASHION

LEISURE FARMS. Sturgeon Falls ON, CANADA.

A few weeks ago I visited Leisure Farms with my sister, a.k.a. The Cultivated Lens, who was also doing a couple's shoot in the corn maze there. She suggested I come along and help so we could shoot a look for my blog as well. I think you'll agree that the yellow corn stalks provided the perfect backdrop for this textural look featuring a rustic faux fur vest and lots of weathered-looking leather.

I've worn this vest in previous blog post (see RETRO VIBES) with totally different results. One of the things I love about fashion is that you can completely change the look of a single piece of clothing just by what you choose to pair it with.

About the outfit:

The last thing you want to do when you visit a pumpkin patch is to dress uncomfortably so this look essentially morphed out of the fact that I didn't want to be wearing thigh-high boots with stiletto heels, which is the look I had originally planned to wear for my next shoot.

So styling from the boots up so to speak, I chose to rep a classic pair of dark denim jeans. Dark denim has to be my favourite wash as far as jeans go because they look great with everything and can be dressed up or down. The stitching on this particular pair is done with a chestnut/orange thread and given that Thanksgiving and Halloween were right around the corner, I thought what better way to look seasonably appropriate than by wearing orange? (Although apricot sounds much better)

To accessorize I wore a pair of orange-tinted aviators, a unique pair of double-sided earrings, and this rustic crossover bag that I bought in a Mexican market a couple of years ago.

I hope you like this week's look! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page for a breakdown of each piece I'm wearing as well as see the total cost. Remember fashion is affordable! xo
