BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

DressLily Collaboration

FASHION

THE CULTIVATED LENS' Studio. North Bay ON, CANADA.

I am so excited to share this post with you!

This week I've teamed up with DressLily and The Cultivated Lens to bring you a costume look inspired by the classic film Breakfast at Tifffany's!

About a month ago DressLily contacted me about doing a costume blog post for Halloween. I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan so it seemed like the obvious choice and DressLily had the perfect pieces to create the Holly Golightly character. Unfortunately the outfit didn't arrive in time for Halloween but luckily 'tis the season for holiday parties! Not only are people dressing up in all things fancy and sparkly at this time of year, there are also a lot of costume parties that come along with the festive season of Christmas and New Years! This outfit would be PERFECT for any such occasion.

A few details about this look...

This is my modern interpretation of Holly Golightly and as such you'll notice that the dress I'm wearing is much more daring than the one Audrey wears in the film. I've always been partial to the 'mermaid' silhouette and when paired with a low-cut back it's a stunning combination that I'm sure Holly herself would've worn. Not only is this dress extremely comfortable, its stretchy, jersey material make it a multi-purpose garment that could be worn with heels to a holiday party or with sandals on a tropical getaway.

Something that the character of Holly Golightly and myself have in common is that we both have a great appreciation for bling! Holly wears a fantastic array of costume jewelry all throughout the film that is nothing short of enviable. For this look I layered two necklaces; a vintage pearl necklace from my own collection and a rhinestone necklace from DressLily (which came as a set with matching earrings). I also ordered two matching brooches to attach to the tiara and necklace to look as much like the jewelry from the movie as possible.

*The brooches, tiara, earrings, and rhinestone necklace are all from DressLily.

To put the finishing touches on this outfit I still needed a few key pieces - long black gloves, black heels, and a long cigarette holder - all of which I was able to find at Wal Mart and on Amazon. With that VOILA! I was transformed into Holly Golightly.

This entire costume cost just $71 dollars! Be sure to check out DressLily's website for more gorgeous and affordable fashion finds. (Links to all of the items from this outfit at the bottom of the page.)

Well what do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts on this costume! Do you think I did justice to the original? If you duplicate this look over the holidays tag me in your pics! @beautyspot.fashion

Also a huge thank you to The Cultivated Lens for allowing me to be her guinea pig for her new studio set up! I'll think you'll agree that the results are fantastic! Check her out on Facebook and Instagram and if you're looking for a photographer over the holidays give her a ring!

I'll leave you with the opening scene from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

If you haven't already seen the film be sure to do so - it's a must-watch! #timelessclassic

Enjoy! xo
